| History Villa Tottebo was built in 1897 by wholesaler Lars-Eric Lithander as a hunting lodge and summer residence. The house was located on the hillside, just below Totthummeln. In the beginning of the 20th century Agnar Meurling bought Villa Tottebo and set it up as a staff house for his newly opened hospital. Since the late seventies the old lodge was abanded and in heavy decline when three guys, one of them Per-Åke Kristiansson, from Åre set their eyes set on it and wondered what to do to save it from demolition.A sunny day on the spring of 1993 the idea was formed to refurnish the house and turn it into a restaurant.They managed to secure a site in the midst of Åre, and moved the lodge in one piece to the central site near the train station. They managed to transport the lodge in less than 14 hours and that created a big spectacle in town. In November 1995, Villa Tottebo opened its doors, and from that day we have received a lot of attention and good reviews in both the Swedish restaurant guides White, Sveriges Bästa bord and Gourmet 199 bord, and foreign guides such as Rough Guide Sweden. |

| The transport In july 1995 Villa Tottebo was transferred from its' location at the back of the hospital, to its' current spot opposite the old train station. During 14 hours the 60 ton heavy and 15 metres wide building was transported through the village. |
